Heavenly Peel Session 4/14/91

Oddly enough, “Escort Crash On Marston Street” was first Heavenly song I ever heard many years back. I heard it sometime in the dead of Fall, I recall, and it’s for this reason that I’ve always connected the song—and Heavenly, in general—so very closely to the season. It remains one of my favorites of theirs and over the years I even grew to prefer the Peel Session version over the one that appeared as the b-side to the ‘She Says’ 7” that K released the same year as this session.

I feel like it’s safe to make the assumption that most anyone reading Skatterbrain by this point is pretty versed on the ins and outs of a band like Heavenly, but for those more particularly familiar with the ‘Heavenly Vs. Satan’ LP, “Escort Crash On Marston Street” is essentially just a reworking of their earlier song “Wish Me Gone” with different, grimmer lyrics. “So Little Deserve” (probably my favorite of all Heavenly lyrics) and “And The Birds Aren’t Singing” also appear on the session!

Anyway, here it is. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
